Britain’s biggest mortgage lender revealed today that house prices rose by nearly £75 a day last month despite fears of higher interest rates.
Halifax said that a shortage of new and second-hand homes was continuing to fuel a property boom.
Prices rose by 1.1 per cent in April, the smallest rise so far this year and second lowest since July 2006.
But annual house price inflation is running at 10.9 per cent and the average house price across the UK is £196,745.
